Statuses & workflows

Production statuses, hold points and NCR flow

Completed is not the same as QC passed. How a component moves through its stages, when it waits for QC, and how a non-conformance is opened and closed.

Stages and workflows

Each component follows the workflow assigned to its group (built-up, hot-rolled, purlins…). A stage can be required or optional, depend on earlier stages, require photos, workers or a WPS, and be a hold point.

The life of a stage

  1. Available – previous stages are complete; the team can work on it.
  2. Confirmed completed by the team (QR scan on the workshop screen).
  3. Awaiting QC – if the stage has an inspection, it waits in the QC queue.
  4. QC PASS – the next stage opens. QC FAIL – the defect and disposition are recorded; the team reports Rework done and QC re-inspects (#2, #3…).

Rules that never change

  • Production complete ≠ QC passed. Only a QC inspector records PASS / FAIL.
  • A hold point stops later stages from exceeding the quantity accepted by QC.
  • A scan is never a QC PASS – also in packing.
  • Corrections keep the old value, the new value, the person and the reason.

NCR flow

OPEN → CORRECTIVE ACTION → RE-INSPECTION → CLOSED. Only QC can close an NCR. Dispositions: redo, repair, accept with approval (a waiver needs a reason and an approver) or reject. A component with an open NCR is on hold and cannot be packed.
