The most common American structural steel specifications: A36 (minimum yield 36 ksi ≈ 250 MPa) and A572 in grades 42 to 65, with Grade 50 (≈ 345 MPa) the usual choice.

A992 is the usual specification for wide-flange (W) shapes.
