What it covers
- Objects (beams, columns, plates, fasteners, grids…), their geometry, properties and relationships.
- Versions IFC2x3 and IFC4 are the most widely used.
Key points for fabricators
- Assemblies, part marks and materials must be filled correctly in the authoring tool – IFC carries what the model contains.
- Welds are not usually exported as objects.
How PEB Studio supports it
IFC import builds the BOM, 3D, weld detection, grids and component identities; a new IFC revision keeps PCIDs and installation data.
