Packing hierarchy: shipment, container, package

How cargo is organised – Project → Shipment → Container (Master PKL) → Package (Sub-PKL) → component – and what each status from draft to received means.

The levels

LevelDocumentNotes
Shipment—Groups containers sent together (vessel, ETD)
ContainerMaster packing list (Master PKL)Number validated against ISO 6346; seal; VGM
PackageSub packing list (Sub-PKL)Numbered automatically (PKG-0726-0001), own QR label; packages can be nested
ComponentLine of a PKLControlled by serial – never allocated twice

Eligibility

Only components that are fully fabricated, QC-released, painted or galvanised and not on hold can be packed. Bolts and accessories are packed by unit up to the BOM quantity plus allowance.

From draft to site

  1. Draft – packages and containers are planned and filled by scanning.
  2. Verified – the supervisor checks packages and containers, or requests re-packing.
  3. Sealed – the seal number is entered twice.
  4. Released – an immutable snapshot with SHA-256; client documents are produced only from it.
  5. Handed over – the carrier signs the digital handover.
  6. Shipped – a separate, explicit action.
  7. Received – on site, by scanning each package; unscanned packages become discrepancies.
