B.6 Weld detection from 3D geometry

What it does

• 4 weld types, each in its own colour: double-sided fillet weld (T-joint), all-round fillet weld at member ends, complete joint penetration butt weld, all-round lap weld on plates.
• Weld length is assigned to the secondary part; totals by type and by assembly; a “welded part – welded to part” table.
• Results verified against hand calculations on the sample file (e.g. UB406 end plate = 1,508.6 mm, exactly the section perimeter).

Limits and points to check

The IFC does not include weld sizes (leg length, edge preparation) – take them from the fabrication drawings, and check against the Tekla weld report before calculating welding consumables.
